1. The beginning of January I weighed 261 lbs (eek!), and on January 31st I weighed in at 254.8! I am so happy for this 6.2 lbs weight loss for the month!
2. Last Saturday (I weigh myself once a week on Saturdays), I weighed in at 254.8 lbs, and when I weighed yesterday I was down to.....251.6!!! That's 3.2 pounds in one week, and 9.4 pounds lost since January 1st! I've almost hit my first 10 pound goal! Definitely my biggest weight loss week so far, and I attribute it all to finally setting the treadmill up in the garage and using it 20-30 minutes every other day.
3. Walking/Jogging + dance workout DVDs + weightlifting is a workout that I'm in love with! Every day (or every other day), I pick which one I want to do. That way I'm excited to workout. No schedule or list of what must be done. If I feel like jogging each day for a week, I do it. If I feel like dancing for 10 minute and then lifting weight for half an hour, I do it. Whatever makes me happy because I know if I'm not having fun with it, I'm probably not going to do it.
4. I've lost 2 inches off my bust, 1.5 inches off my waist, and 2 inches off my hips. Clothes are starting to feel loose, and I have a pair of jeans that I'm really excited to start fitting into again.
5. I've found fun ways of getting my veggies in (cause sometimes a girl only wants to eat carbs), and so many healthy snacks. I'll be sharing all of them later this week!
So many positive things from the past week and I feel so motivated to keep pushing harder, running longer, and eating better. I'm LOVE-ing this healthier version of myself...I feel stronger and in control of my body. It's awesome.
Question: I've really been considering doing Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred. I keep hearing so much about it and was wondering if you guys have any experience with it or thoughts about the workout? I've heard it's pretty brutal but I think I'm up for the challenge. *wink*
I'm spending the day hanging out with some friends and then hanging out at home for a little family Superbowl party. Who are you rooting for this year? XO, mandy

I am doing the 30 Day Shred and while it is hard, halfway through I am noticing changes all around. The second level is KILLING me but I love that each thing is so short so it's hard to get bored - I'm usually way too tired and sweaty to notice it is almost finished! Plus it is only 20 minutes so I can't complain.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for your weight loss :D I also want to lose pounds
ReplyDeletexo
I'm so proud of you! You are such an inspiration, keep working hard and the good results will keep pouring in!
ReplyDeletePs. We need to hit Mama Jeans soon!! I need more health stuffs ;)
Girl....I am so proud of you!!!!! You are amazing...keep it up. Do whatever you find fun. You don't have to do extreme exercise to keep up with what your doing. If you can rent video's first it gives you an idea if the workout if for you. :) Hearts, Janna Lynn
ReplyDeleteThe 30 Day Shred is seriously tough, but like Anonymous above me said, it's nice that it goes so quickly...you're constantly moving (Jillian says you can only rest for 5 seconds at a time, if you really need to), and the exercises are changing very quickly, so you don't get bored. When I did it, I could notice the differences in me in just a matter of days (like more core strength, better endurance). Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteWay to go girl, that's awesome! I would definitely recommend the 30 Day Shred. You can modify if you need to and there are three levels. It's a great full body workout and not too long.
ReplyDelete:)
Good for you Sweetie, if it makes you feel better, that is fantastic. I think you are beautiful anyway, but it is more important that you feel good about yourself x x x
ReplyDeletemy husband's an actor so he's really into staying fit. he also has ADHD (so says i!) and he's gone through a TON of the workout dvds you see on tv like the superscary ones (p90x, insanity, etc.) and also the jillian michaels one... he says it's lots of cardio, and what's nice about it is that it doesn't take up, like, 3 hours of your life every day. according to him, the routines are effective but fairly short compared to most other dvd routines (yay!)
ReplyDeletehope that helps :)
I love the 30 day shred! although I'm really bad at doing it every day, I found that the little bursts of cardio helped improve my cardiovascular endurance, so I could run longer. I'd say it's definitely worth it! Congrats on your weight loss!
ReplyDelete~Drew
Congrats! I'm on a weight loss journey right not too.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing 30 day shred and I love it! It is super hard but you will notice a difference really fast. The first day of level one I thought I was going to die! I couldn't get through it all and I almost gave up. By day 9 I was getting through the whole thing like a champ! I am on level 2 now, and it's the same thing. It gets easier every day. I'm getting great results, too.
I love love love the 30 Day Shred. I've only been doing it a week and I lost 2 inches around my waist!
ReplyDeleteThats so awesome that you're getting fit :) Congrats on all the weight loss!

I did the 30 Day Shred and it's really great. It will really get you working! I felt like I was gonna die the first couple of times I did it, but it got better, and you're body feels so strong.
ReplyDeletexo,

I just started the 30-Day Shred a few days ago and it absolutely is tough, but I LOVE it. I actually hate taking a rest day, but I know they're necessary, so I just do what I can to look forward to the next day and keep myself from having too many rests in a row.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely recommend it. :)
Congrats on your work so far! I'm really impressed, and am absolutely using you as inspiration (I really look forward to every time you update, to be honest; I get so excited to see how you're doing!).
Congratulations! That's awesome! You're so motivational :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go! That's so awesome!

ReplyDeleteEmma xx
Yaaay, great job Mandy!!
ReplyDeleteI just started reading recently and I have to tell you a couple of things: firstly, I really like your blog. Second, It's awesome that you're getting healthy and I'm excited to read along as you continue your new lifestyle. Lastly, those glasses are freaking adorable <3!
ReplyDeleteCute glasses :D
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, I think it's fantastic that you've found a way to start getting healthy that is fun for you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your effort paying off! The 30 Day Shred is a great workout. Unfortunately, I can't do it because of the plate and screws in my ankle. They hurt when I do any high impact activity. I gave it to my mom and she loves it and has had great success with it.
ReplyDeleteNice work! That is a fantastic start to the year. I love the treadmill. I also use the stationary bike at the gym. I like to ride and read a book. It keeps me from getting bored while i work out. When I'm on the treadmill I watch the tv's at my gym. I find if you aren't concentrating on the time you are on the equipment it tends to go faster. Keep up the great work!!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! And those glasses are adorable.
ReplyDeleteI have the Jillian's DVD sitting next to my TV waiting to be used. I will be starting it here in a week or so as I start to make 'better choices'....congrats on your hard work...your blogs are keeping me motivated to make better decisions...

congrats! as for the jillian micheal's workout: it's not my favorite because I prefer workouts like running, biking, swimming and yoga where I can zone out and go to my happy place. but i do like to do her dvd here and there if i'm pressed for time or feel like changing up the routine a bit.
ReplyDeleteI did the Shred for awhile, and it totally kicked my butt. I'm a total wuss. However, as others have said, it is do-able and short enough that by the time you think you're going to die it's over. Commit to it for a week, and you'll see you can do it for longer than a week. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the weight loss! I am in the midst of a weight-loss journey myself.. started trying to lose weight last February, lost 20lbs and hit a plateau in August that I'm currently trying to bust through. I just want to see 199 on that scale!
ReplyDeleteI have the 30 Day Shred DVD, I usually end up doing the workout once or twice and then abandoning it.. not because it's hard but because i don't have a great space in my apartment to work out. I only hear FANTASTIC things though, and the workout is very manageable on level 1.
Congrats on losing some pounds! You inspire me each time you post one of these weight loss updates. I heard of that 30 day shred too and really want to do it. I love a challenge!

ReplyDeleteI really like the Jillian video because there are three different levels!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! You know what I read in the latest Women's health? They did a study on grapefruit. People who ate a grapefruit a day (they changed nothing else) lost weight!
You're doing so great! I'm so excited for your for your progress. You must be feeling great! Keep up the great work! xo, rv

ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you! If you can do it, I can. Thank you for being such an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI am on the same path right now and I am LOVING mixing in P90X. Its brutal but it works! Even if you can't do all of it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Dance Central and Your shape for xbox is CRAZZZYYY good! Between those two I have lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks.
You should pick up Trudie Styler's (Sting's wife) cardio dance dvd. I LOVE it. After only 4 times of doing it every second day I went down a belt size. It makes me feel so good for the rest of the day too because it really works your muscles! I definitely recommend it!
ReplyDeleteps- So happy for you!
Congrats beautiful! Keep working hard! You are totally inspiring me!
