Trick Or Treat Prize Balls DIY from Pocketful Of Pretty

I first learned about surprise balls from this post on Poppytalk & ever since I have been dying to have a reason to make one! I decided what better holiday to try my hand at it than my very favorite - Halloween!  It's such a fun, inexpensive way to give someone you love (kids & adults alike) a unique present!

Supplies:

:: Prizes - this is the fun part! Pick out prizes that are "pocket size" so they will be easy to wrap. Great sources to find fun prizes are: Target, Dollar Store, Walmart, Cracker Barrel & old General Stores, etc.

:: Crepe Paper Streamers - You can find these in an assortment of colors at most stores with a party section. (Target, Walmart, craft stores...)

:: Tags - I made some quick tags on the computer & would love to share!  Click on the image below to enlarge & print out your very own! I printed mine on a cream card stock.

For these Trick or Treat Prize Balls, I found most of my prizes at Target in the Halloween section. I made my Prize Balls for my multiple nieces & nephews so I found lots of little knick knacks in packs of 4 or more for only $1.00.  The Dollar Store would be a great place to stock up on fun do-dads as well.

How to:

:: 1. Start with a larger item that is rounded & begin to wrap streamers around it until it is covered.

:: 2. Continue adding on a new prize & wrapping each one until covered. I alternated colors for each prize.

:: 3. I also alternate putting prizes on opposite sides of ball to even it out & try to maintain the round ball shape. I usually start by adding the smaller items & work my way up to the bigger ones as the ball gets bigger.

:: 4. & 5.  Wrap the outside of the ball with the final color until it is fully covered. I put a "x" of black crepe paper to create a finished look & taped it down.

:: 6. Add your tag & voila! you're done! I made two slits on either side of the tag with an x-acto knife & ran a piece of crepe paper through to attach it to the ball.

I hope you have as much fun making these as I did!! I will definitely be making many more in the future. Happy Halloween!!!  hugs & cheek pecks - Meghan
