Current summer fashion inspiration

Today I thought it would be nice to share some of my recent fashion inspiration. I want to always be finding new ideas and inspiration for my style so that I can keep it fresh and exciting. I've dedicated a bit of my sketchbook/journal for new ideas and possible outfits. It's become a fun little hobby of mine to people watch for style ideas while I'm out and about, and jotting them down in my notebook (that probably seems a little weird, but I love seeing what other people are wearing). Pinterest is also super handy for organizing my faves when I find cute outfits via blogs and tumblrs.

It's going to be a bit hard coming up with cute outfits since I'm packing everything up for the move (and because it's been so hot here lately, all I want to do is wear shorts and baggy t-shirts), but I promise to share at least a couple fun ensembles in the next week or so. I've heard rumor that it will be cardigan weather some time next week, so I'll definitely be taking advantage of that! :)

Have a Big Honkin' Summer!

Here are some snapshots from yesterday. Just an all-around lazy day spent with family. We barbecued and played video games and watched a few episodes of Restaurant: Impossible. It was fun to chill with the family, especially with all of the recent craziness of trying to pack the house up and get everything ready for the move. Everyone was so relaxed and happy, definitely a good day. :)

Anyone else watching The Bachelorette? It's a guilty pleasure show for me (along with Big Brother and Hell's Kitchen), and I am super loving this season already. There are so many sweet guys! I won't give any spoilers away for anyone who hasn't watched yesterday's episode yet, but one of my favorite guys went home and I am so bummed. Every time I pick a #1 favorite, he ends up getting kicked off the show really early on. Oh well, I've got about 4 other favorites that I'm rooting for, haha. *wink* I'd love to know who your favorites are if you're watching the show! xoxo mandy

Friday's Favorite Things!

Hey my little chickadees! Welcome to Friday! I hope everyone has a really good holiday weekend (Monday is Memorial Day!). I'm spending this weekend packing like crazy because we move in 3 weeks. 3 weeks! Holy wow, the time is going to fly by fast. Eeep!
Here are some pretty summer favorites from the week...enjoy!

1. Loving these colors so much right now. Summer is all about color for me.

2. This picture makes me want to drop everything I'm doing and just take a road trip to the west coast. I miss the beach so much.

3. This recipe for Carrot Lemonade sounds amazing! Now yes, I know the combination might seems a little odd, and I did try carrot juice recently and you really need to *love* carrots to enjoy the flavor, but it just seems so darn summer-y. So I'm gonna try it out (and report back to you guys with results).

4. Cutest shoes ever? YES! They remind me of my Daisy by Marc Jacobs perfume...so pretty.

5. Love this how-to on creating fake calligraphy. This will be a fun new addition in my art journals!

6. I'm kind of dying over how awesome this Painted Glass Table DIY is. I seriously need a glass-top table now! ♥

7. Pretty pastel dishware and retro cups are a must in my dream apartment/home.

8. I'm pretty sure I could eat blueberry cupcakes every day, forever, always. Yep.

9. Urban Outfitters has the coolest pool float ever. Nothing like lounging on a giant pretzel.

10. Zooey D. Forever my style music, hero, and role model. I'd give anything to meet her some day and see her sing live. (I've been listening to She & Him all week. They're just so good.) xo mandy

Duomatic

I recently discovered this cool app called Duomatic and have had a lot of fun playing around with it. This app lets you create double exposures by combining 2 photos from your iphone. I'm a little nervous trying to do this with film (I really have no clue where to begin), so this app is super handy.

Finding old photos

Yesterday, my mom stumbled across a box of old photos and polaroids from when I was little. I have all of my old photos stored away and haven't looked through them in awhile, so it was fun seeing these few that I had forgotten about. And yes, I admit I totally teared up looking through these. :)

1. Me (not looking very impressed, haha) and my uncle. 2. My sunglasses obsession was started at a very young age, ha! 3. My mom and I making crazy faces. 4. Sexy face?

Some of my favorite photos of my dad and I when I was little. Good grief, I was a big baby!

1. Me and my grandma, who is probably reading this. Grandma, I miss you. Move back to Springfield soon! :) 2. Check out those shades....and that baby mullet! Yep, keepin' it classy since '89. *wink* 3. Not sure if this is a "Give me the camera, I want to take pictures" or a "Stop taking my freaking picture already", haha. 4. Clearly chips make me very excited.

1. My mom used to have a babysitting business when I was little. Nothing's easier than making friends when they just show up at your door. 2. Fell asleep trying to prop my head up to watch tv. Good to know mom was always there with a camera whenever I did something random.

1. Christmas morning (my first, I think). I had the sweetest vintage Christmas nightie to sleep in, but that thing itched like no other. 2. Me in 3rd grade, with a haircut fit for a boy. Thanks mom. :)

Seeing these photos really makes me want to use more film. I want to have pictures like these to look back on, memories of all the good times and fun adventures. I've kind of neglected my toy cameras lately (which totally bums me out), so I have decided to make this summer season very film-focused. I'm going to keep a toy camera with my at all times so I can snap as many summer memories as possible. I don't care how far along technology gets, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for good old film. xo mandy
